• ‘Danders Aroon’ Walks Series Goes live

After a glorious few weeks of filming in Autumnal sunshine we went straight into editing the series of video Walking Guides called ‘Danders Aroon’, which we devised and produced for the Ulster Scots Broadcast Fund and our hosting partners, Walk NI. The series of 5 plus additional content covers Islandmagee, Dunseverick, Donaghadee, Killyleagh and the Lagan Towpath. The short videos are designed to introduce people to short walks in these areas and introduce aspects of Ulster Scots history and culture pertaining to each. It was a lovely project to work on, showing off the best of Northern Ireland’s scenery. After a short delay due to the government’s Covid travel restrictions the series is now live on the Walk NI and Ulster Scots Agency websites.

Swimmer Emre Preparing to take on The North Channel

We were very pleased to get commissioned by BBC’s ‘The One Show’ to tell the story of the Mallon Family from South Armagh and their work in helping endurance swimmers attempt to cross The North Channel between Scotland and Ireland. We filmed Emre Erdogan from Turkey having a go, and it was broadcast on The One Show in October. The swim crossing was filmed by Damien Gallagher and Graham Little and the short film was edited by Neil Whiteside. Thanks very much to The One Show Executive Producer Claire Megahey for her support and to all at Infinity Channel Swimming for their hospitality. We hope to make a full documentary on their work and the history of North Channel swims.

Presenter Leon McCarron in Downing Street with cameraman Phil Rowe

We have just delivered a one hour documentary to BBC Northern Ireland about former Prime Minister, Andrew Bonar Law. Presented by Leon McCarron, a writer and distant relation of Law, it was shot in London and on the former Law family farm near Portrush, County Antrim. It will be broadcast later this year.

  • The Mythical Mick Murphy- In Development

We are very pleased to have development of our proposed documentary on Irish cycling legend, ‘Ironman’ Mick Murphy off the ground. Development was funded by RTE and Northern Ireland Screen.

Since first coming across Mick’s scarcely believable story while covering The An Post Ras a few years ago his legend got a hold of us and we have been unable to shake it off without making an attempt to bring his story to the attention of a wider audience.

Mick Murphy was a homeless drifter who won one of the greatest prizes in Irish sport in 1958. He won cycling’s Ras Tailteann, but was a social outcast whose eccentricities and circus background stoked a fire of semi-mythological tales and fear that set him apart from his contemporaries. He lived an extraordinary life, of which winning the Ras was only one part.

We have a taster edited and are pedalling as hard as he did to get a full documentary up and away. RIP Mick Murphy, Cahirsiveen, County Kerry.

  • Northern Ireland: Ultimate Round

We’re currently involved in producing a big project for Tourism NI through their advertising agency AV Browne, creating what we are terming the Ultimate Round of golf in Northern Ireland.

The basic premise is if you could design a massive golf course using the whole country and had your pick of any hole from any club, which holes would you play and in what order?

  • Man v Wave

We have just produced 4 online films for Channel 4 that showcase Irish big wave surf legend Al Mennie. The series is called Man v Wave and will run on 4OD shortly. Al is a surf pioneer, using ocean charts, 3D models of the seabed and wave action systems to find and ride new big wave locations all round the Irish Coast.

We followed him for 4 months as he trained specifically to cope with whatever the Atlantic threw at him and also recorded his quest to bring more scientific analysis to his sport with the use of GPS systems and data.
